Default Fuel line broken at fuel filter

So the 3.0 flex '03 I bought was jerry-rigged with a fuel filter with the bottom fuel line connection half broken, but zip tied nice and tight to keep it fit. Are there ways to fix this without running a whole new line? It seems to me a new connection and say a stainless tube with hose clamps would work... but would provide resistance of flow.

You need a whole new line. Sucks, but it needs to be done.

One other thing to try before you fork out money to the dealer is autozone sales a replacement for the back line behind the filter. I think it was about $30 bucks for the whole thing. It even has the adapter. You have to cut it to size or if it is two long it will kink and bust like mine did. What i ended up doing was getting i think it was 3/8 rubber fuel line, cut the broken metal line, and ran the rubber line with 2 hose clamps on each end TIGHT. Had this set up for 6 months with no problems. Now i dont have to mess with pos "quick connections"

Everything is a DIY project. Just have the confidence in your self.

You will need to remove the bed to access the top of the fuel tank. Get somebody to assist you with that and the rest it easy.

If you want to spend the extra money, they make kits to fabricate your own lines, end to end. Kit comes with assorted fittings, different size lines (5/16 & 3/8), and tools. Dorman make one kit and S.U.R.&R. makes another. Dorman also makes repair kits which is a section of line with a fitting on the end depending on application. Cost is under $20.

WOAH!!!! $200?

please dont tell me you spent $200 for a new fuel line when I spent $15 when I had the same problem!

Autozone will sell you fuel line by the foot. see where I am going with this?
They also sell these cool things called C-clamps tha have a twist handle instead of using a screw driver, which really helps out when you go to hook the fuel line up to the connections on top of the tank because it is a TIGHT fit to get your hands up there and you cant see what youre doing. I did not have to remove the bed though.

It is a PITA but it is doable, be safe ad make sure you do not leak any fuel. Also if you think you need 3ft of fuel line, buy 5ft and cut to where you want.

old thread..... oh well.

Mopar9012 ...You seem to know what you're talking about - and I also have a broken fuel line at the fuel filter ... it's only the connector which I can get for $12.00 at advanced auto parts instead of paying a shop $400 dollars to replace the fuel lines ... what is the best way of getting that connector off the fuel line or should I just get the fuel by the foot from autozone ...will it come with a new connector? what is the best way of going about this ...

Thank you in advance
