Default Oil pressure flicker..

Hello,
I have a 2003 ranger, 5 speed with the 3.0 v6. I drive it 85 miles(freeway) everyday to work and have no issues. For reason when I drive 100+ and I come to a stop my oil pressure gauge will flicker and be erratic at idle. Once I rev it up it is fine. It does not happen all the time but is concerning to me. I change the oil regularly and use only Motorcraft products. Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Chris

I had this problem when I first got my truck.... scary stuff because I ignored it for a while and then eventually, when I came to idle, it would drop to nothing unless I revved it. I pulled it over for awhile and called my mechanic to drop it off. When I started it back up it was fine the whole drive to his house. It was the oil pressure sender switch, easy fix, only about $20. Idk where it is because I didnt do the work this time because I thought it was serious.

I'm leaning toward the pressure switch too.

Okay thanks. I will change out the sender and see if that fixes it.

Just for future reference this is a common problem amongst Rangers, regardless of the engine. Usually always fixed by replacing the sender switch. But on the 95+ 3.0, and the 1995-2000 OHV 4.0, it's very important to make sure it isn't the camshaft synchronizer failing.

I had the same problem in my 99'. Mine was a broke wire from the sending unit.
