Default Random no start.

I've got an 04' Ranger XLT, 3.0 V6 with about 90k miles. I've got a random not start issue. Turns over fine, battery and alternator were tested as fine, it's not throwing any codes. About every other day I'll try to start it and it won't start. It eventually starts but sometimes it takes 12 tries. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I've searched but having really found anything.
Thanks
Joshua

Does it have spark?
Is fuel making it to the engine?

Sorry it's taken so long! It's been a busy several weeks. Do you mean, does it have spark and fuel just when I'm having the starting issue? It always starts (it just takes a while sometimes) and once it starts it runs fine. It usually starts just fine with no issues. The problem is just occasional.

I haven't tested the starter because it turns over fine all the time. It feels like it wants to start but just doesn't catch.

Actually, I'm positive it's working fine. I've talked to several people and the opinion is that it's either an electrical issue or fuel issue, I just don't know where to begin to narrow it down. So, any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Start with the fuses but I dont see why that would cause it to do what you say it does

Well this morning it wouldn't start at all. It would turn over fine though. Rumor has it that it could be the fuel pump or associated relays. Any ideas on the cheapest trouble shooting method?

Well I went out there a few minutes ago and at first it was doing the same thing (turning over but not starting) and then on the second try it started up fine. How do I tell if the fuel pump is going bad? Could this be related to a clogged fuel filter? I bought the truck used so have no idea when or if the fuel filters been replaced.

a few thoughts. when you turn the truck to on you should be able to hear the fuel pump prime. you have a fuel pump relay in the distribution box about $8 you might be able to swap it with another in the box to test it. I like to diagnose then replace but you do need to do maintenance. I would check the plugs, wires, air filter, pcv fuel filter, and try to get an idea if they need changing. run some techron or similar in it. you can check for fuel pressure at the shrader valve on the fuel rail. I think it is suppose to be about 60 with key on and drop a little running but check that i am not positive

So I checked the relays. Replaced the fuel filter. When I had the gas lines removed from the filter and tried to start the truck no gas came from the tank end of the lines. Shouldn't there be though? I'm guessing this could be the fuel pump itself being bad but couldn't it also be an electrical problem before the fuel pump? Any ideas on how to narrow it down from this?
Thanks for all the help so far.

Iwould think fuel would come out but I am not positive. Check your fuel inertia switch at the feet of passenger side on the firewall in the cab

Is the fuel inertia switch labeled in the owners manual or in the truck b/c I can't find it in my haynes manual?

It is mentioned in section 4.2 of my haynes. It should be about 4 inches above your right foot if you where sitting in the passenger seat. But also could be behind the kickpanal to the right of you feet. DO ME A BIG FAVOR UPDATE YOUR SIGNATURE I am on my Blackberry

The fuel inertia switch hasn't popped if that's what you're saying to check. I think I'm going to order just pump itself online b/c the parts stores around here sell only the pump and entire assembly. Any ideas on final checks to make sure it's not an electrical issue? I think I got the signature set, let me know if it doesn't appear.
Thanks again for all the help.
