Default #2 cylinder missing

Hello I have a 2001 ranger 3.0 v6 and just replaced the air filter, plugs, plug wires, oil filter, and changed oil.

previously the only thing I would change was the oil/filters, but now that the truck is old I am not afraid to wrench on it myself, just bought a obd-II reader and got a missing number 2 cylinder warning.

I do not know what the problem is, I am guessing it is a clogged fuel injector and i might try running some cleaner through the tank and see if that helps.

the truck has always had a stumble at times that would go away if i rode it out but every few months it would stumble again, and before I didnt have the reader and the problem would go away after driving so i never took it in.

now its running bad though and I need to adress the problem.

has anyone esle had similar issues, I am thinking about trying fuel filter first.

i just got off of a similar problem in my 03 v6 3l. in cylinder 4. mine ended up beaing the vavle seats were worn out. i would try a compression check all my cylinders were 180 then cyl 4 was 90. i would give that a shot to see what you come up with. i ended up popping the head off and reseating all the valves on that bank. good luck

Did you have the #2 cylinder missfire code prior to giving it a tune-up, & did you erase that message? Also, with that message it could of been a really worn-down plug or a bad wire on #2? Hopefully, it isn't what Chris is mentioning, but like he says, "a compression Check" would verify this, before you start dumping money into parts. Also, your coil pack could be bad for that cylinder? That's easy to check with an ohmmeter.
