Lots of discussion in this thread

http://www.fordrangerforum.com/how-s...ir-intake.html

My comments are on page 7 including a pic of my air filter after doing to mod (not good)...

title of the thread should be changed to How To: Air Silencer Removal (Hot Dirty Air Intake)

I saw your pictures. You did something majorly wrong. Never have I seen this done with the air filter looking like yours did.

Lets think about this using some simple logic. This thing you're removing is called an "air silencer". Removing it makes the intake louder. It will not suck more air. It will not breath better. It will not increase power. It will not magically make you shit gold bricks. It will not get you laid. It will not harm anything. It will not kill babies.

It will make the intake louder. Period. End of story.

I did before I put on a K&N intake. My truck from the day I bought it brand new has had the air silencer removed or had a aftermarket intake on it.

I did it to mine and man!, did it ever "make the intake louder"!
I swear i could tell by the sound that it had to "suck more air"!
Once i got out on the highway, I could really tell that the engine could "breath better"!
It was almost as if it had "Increased power"!
Naturally, all of this almost made me "shit a gold brick" when this mod now "gets me laid" almost daily!
However, I'm very happy to say... i still haven't "killed any babies"!
