Default 3.0 Liter Question

What would need to be done for a 1993 ranger 3.0 engine to be put in a 1998 ranger?

What does the 98 Ranger have in it now?
The 3.0, (so I am told), is a red headed step child and will only bolt up to a 3.0 bell housing. Other than that, you will will need the engine wiring harness, complete with computer, and if you swap out the transmission, you will need the harness for that I think.
It should just fit in place of what ever is in the 98 now, if you take the aforementioned parts with it.

Check your smog laws. Here in CA it is not smog legal to use an older engine than the vehicle. It has to be the same year or newer. Also that 1993 engine is OBD1 and the 1998 is OBD 2. There will be sensors that will be on the 98 engine that wont be on the 93 engine.

the obd 2 will require you to change your security system as well, you'll basically need a whole 98 ranger to do the swap without issue
edit: lol read the first post wrong, youll need a whole 93 ranger
