2003 XLT blowing fuses
2003 6 cylinder 3.0L automatic with 61K miles on it
I replaced a fuse careful to make sure I got the schematic for the fuses so I replaced the right one with the right size fuse. The signal lights were intermittently working and the AC blower was not working. After replacing the fuses once the blower worked again for a couple days but the signal lights continued to work only intermittently. The signal lights seemed to work after starting the truck and worked fine for that drive. After starting the vehicle another time they would not work.
I took the truck in for routine maintenance just after having changed the fuses for the second time. I explained the problem to the mechanic. They serviced the AC along with the other maintenance. The signal lights and the AC blower were all working fine when I drove it home after service. The mechanic assured me there was not a short in the electrical.
The following day I was driving and suddenly there was white smoke coming from the steering column. I took it back to the shop where they are still trying to figure it out. Any suggestions as to what might be the problem would be appreciated.
