Can i do this?...
so ya....my girlfriend has a 2005 ford Taurus...and from what i have learned ...the ford Taurus shares the same Vulcan 3.0L engine as the ford ranger does. The only thing is that its positioned differently for the FWD.....
She crashed the Taurus recently but the engine is 100 percent......
It should be perfectly possible for me to buy another ranger out there with a blown engine.....and just transfer the engine from her car into that one.....right???

Re: Can i do this?...
It IS possible. But it isn't a 100% bolt in. There are some minor things that will need attention. I once found a post on one of the Ranger type boards that has a walk-through on this exact swap.
I'll see if I can locate it.

Re: Can i do this?...
I don't know a whole lot about how engine swaps work, but I can tell you that it will work. I just had an '03 Taurus engine put into my Ranger after I hydrolocked my engine and the mechanics didn't charge me for anything to custom fit it except for a few gaskets.

Re: Can i do this?...
pretty sure the intake and exhaust manifold will need swapped over. might as well swap over the e-fan if you can.
Hopefully its not like the ford 3.8, some 3.8's were fwd specific.

Re: Can i do this?...
Alright this is all great information guys. Really appreciate it. Could these engines fit into any thing else other than a ranger or taurus by any chance?

So when yours blows up and I win the bet we can replace your engine! Awesome!
Actually I am kind of curious about this myself, even though I've got the bigger engine lol

Re: Can i do this?...
the only thing about the vulcan, is that any year other than a 2004 motor has a lower power rating, I belive that it could fit in a ford focus or other small
trucks that use a v6

Re: Can i do this?...
They were also put into Tempo's and I think they were in Aerostar minivans too.
----------
The 1st gen Probe LX had the Vulcan in it too.
