Default Typical RPM at highway speeds?

Hey guys. Another question from the newbie. Have had my 3.0l Ranger on the highway a few times in the last couple of weeks (doing work out of town). Every time when driving at 100km/hr (60 mph) my tach reads around 2400 RPM. Is that typical? I have overdrive. Most of my last vehicles typically ran around 2000 RPM or less at highway speeds.

Thanx guys. Guess my truck is typical. Just was kinda thinking, that RPM will make for some crappy mileage? I drove my friends Dakota this past weekend (3.9l v6) and at 115km/h it was running at about 2000 RPM. It is what it is...

im proud to say that my tahoe at 70 runs at about 1750 rpms... doesnt really do much for saving gas in that monster though.

4.10 gears is main reason for high rpm's on my vehicle. The vehicles with low rpm's while going 70 mph is because they have 3.55 or even higher gears.
