Default Air intakes or drop in fillters?

Whats better for gas milliage air intakes or just the drop in filtters. i heard some bad things about K & N Oil air fiittlers like it decreases gas milliage and the oil recks your engine. What do you think?

Neither unless you get a programmer.

I had a CAI Series 57 from K&N, ended up selling it because It didnt do anything. If i got a programmer it would of actually had a purpose. So if you have the money I say go for it. But right now I just have a drop in.

i have a k&n CAI and the only thing it does is make a badass sound when you punch it and improved my throttle response a little bit...had i known that before hand i wouldn't have bought it but hindsight is always 20/20

I'm no expert bro but from it seems to me that an SCT tuner would be you best bet based off another thread. Apparently there's a few guys on here that would swear by them. Haha.

The stock intake is not restrictive. Replacing it will gain you nothing. The stock air filter is not restrictive, replacing it will gain you nothing. The various programmers, with a tune made by people who know what they're doing, will provide real gains in performance and/or MPG.

However, if you're doing this for fuel economy, just remember it is going to cost $350 to begin with which is 5-6 tanks of gas. If you don't drive much, this is complete waste of your money

17 to 23 mpg's and I stay off the interstates as much as I can. When I get to 65 mph my truck eats gasoline big time. Before I added the K&N drop in air filter and switched to thicker oil it was 13 and 19 mpg's. I didn't change my driving style either.
