Default Constant heat!

Just bought my Ranger. Day I bought it, it was a cold day. I was impressed by the heat it was putting out. Then the weather got nice (above freezing) so turned the heat control knob to cold and it still throws out hot air. Is there an easy fix for this?? Gonna suck when it's hot summer weather and my truck is still blowing heat in the cab!!!

Very common problem. The blend door that opens and closes air flow across the heater core breaks its linkage. When it breaks, it will fail to full heat. Do a search on here and GOOGLE "Ford blend door fix" for the details and pictures.

In the meantime, if you put it to Max AC, it will close the hot water valve to the heater core and stop the heat.

Can you install a cut off valve in the heater hose and manually turn on and off the hot water? This sounds easier. When I turn the control to Max AC it still blows hot air. So the heater core shut off valve is not working. The blend door may still be ok. The repair for the blend door is too much trouble and most people could not or would not do it. It is a mis-diagnosis to asssume it is the blend door until you verify if the heat turns off when the control is placed on Max AC.

I solved my always on heat problem. I put a manual cut off valve in the hose to the heater. Now my air conditioner puts out colder air than ever.
If I want heat I shall just open the manual valve a little. This is so much easier and cheaper. I spent $8.16. I determined that the vacuum controlled coolant mixer valve was not working. Also the vacuum actuated blend door in the heater is always in full open position. I have vacuum pressure. No vacuum pressure would cause the mixer valve not to close and the blend door to stay open. Rather than go to all of the trouble of finding and fixing Ford's poor quality design problems I just bypassed it. Reading the info on fixing blend door problems and replacing a cheap mixer valve just gives me a headache. It is better to bypass with better controls than in is to waste energy fixing poor design.
Next is a cable control to the valve. This will be the new heat control.
