Default Tuner? CAI?

So I'm wanting to buy a Tuner and im pretty sure im going to get a SCT X3. All i have right now is a air box mod. Do i have to spend the extra money and get a CAI? And if i do get a tuner should i buy from the guy that does custom tunes on here or just run the ones that come pre installed? Does anyone know any good site to buy all this on?

All a CAI is going to do is give you bragging rights and some flashy pipes, but no real performance gains due to your existing air system being cold air by design (pull out your air filter and look where the inlet pipe is for the air). As for the tuner question, I personally don't have much experience because I'm to poor to afford one, but I can guess that getting a custom solution is always going to be better then a run of the mill job, however due to the fact that you're tuning a truck rather then say a corvette, a run of the mill program might do you fine, I'll leave that part to those that know what they're talking about.

I've heard that from a lot of people, that's why i just took out the snorkel and dropped a K&N into it. I just don't want to pay separate $ for someone else setting up a custom tune when i can buy the tuner and already have tunes set up for me.

If you look on SCT's website they will have a spot for local dealers. Some have Dyno's if you have them do it they can fine tune it for you. Then you will get better results.

Ditto on the useless CAI. Don't fall for it.

For the tuner, if you buy from the guys on the forum(s) that do the custom tunes, I've never heard of a dissatisfied customer either. They do great work.
