Default another ABS BRAKE light thread

hey guys (ford ranger 1994 splash RWD 5speed 3.0 V6)

so ive been doing some maintenence and these damn lights are still comming on and off. I can usually at times start the truck and both are off and then when i go to drive the abs and or brake light comes on. abs stays on (will sometimes come off during driving) and the brake light is on and off at times (mostly on). i dont see any braking performance issues and have seen this beat to death with a huge club, but im new to these trucks and am looking for someone to help me with a few things to check over because i need an inspection soon . If anyone could cliff notes me some fix or common reasons this comes about i would really apreciate it!

ps i bought this as a DD and have already changed the waterpump, thermostat, plugs, wires, dizzy rotor and all intake manifold gaskets along with coolant and oil changes lol its getting frustrating when i could be finishing my car!

Default Re: another ABS BRAKE light thread

I had my ABS light come on to me as well after I did a brake job. My solution was just doing a thorough clean to the brake system. Relatively simple to do. All that needs to be done is remove the rotor, and on the plate that the rotor connects to, near the bottom, theres a little cylinder lookin thing sticking out. just take some brake cleaner and spray it on that and clean it off with a clean rag, should be silver when you've cleaned it well enough. then on the back of the rotor, theres a plate in there that has a bunch of slots in it, clean that as well as best you can. Most likely its just because those components are dirty and need to get the excessive brake dust/dirt/ whatever cleaned off. That solved my problem, just that little sensor was being tripped. If that doesn't resolve it, if you can, just replace the rotors. Now you may notice that the new rotors may have a different plate on them. not a problem, still works the same.

Hope that helps.
