i honesty don't know. i have mile tack set to from when i did my last oil change. this time when i fill up maybe tomorrow or the next day i'll write down my miles then reset the tack and see how i do in the next 3 weeks lol its been doing so good after i cleaned the MAF sensor and cleaned the IAC and the throttle plate. cleaning those have given me a extra week of driving without filling up its crazy.

I own both and both are 5 speeds. They both suck. I get roughly 15 to 18 depending if I got a girl in my truck or not haha. But to be completly honest go with the 4.0 if you can because they are roughly the same but sometimes i think my 4.0 does better. Plus 4.0 has more power and is a nicer truck with a different trim quality. Let us know what you go with.

Yep, and the Ranger 4.0 and Tacoma 4.0 get about the same gas mileage! My mom has an '09 Taco with the 2.7 four, they have roughly the same power as our 3.0 but gets much better gas mileage, though not as good as the Duratec 2.3.

Ford still has the same o same o 4.0L sohc since 2001. another example nissan frontier in 2005 4.0L DOHC was available - 261 h.p with 281 lb-ft of torque. But one of my fav numbers is out of the new mustang's 3.7. 305 hp and 280 ft.-lb! now ford you can put that motor in my rig anytime plus with 19 mpg around town and 31 mpg on the open road. If your after mpg in a ranger the 4bangers are the way to go. if your after power in a ranger well your f-ed. 4.0 i guess is your answer even though its not much for a 4L :/
The 4L of toyota is only rated that high in the FJ cruiser, in the Taco its rated at 236HP, I guess exhaust could be a factor or something

ugh no, the 2.7 has a 159 HP and close to 181 Lb Ft. I believe your 3L has 149HP and like 175 lb ft. too lazy to get links though
