Exclamation alternator squeek?

hey guys,
i recently put a sub and amp in my lil truck. i believe it is the stock alternator. ok so when ever i start my truck it squeaks very loudly. if i rev the engine the squeak gets louder then goes back to normal with the rev of the engine. i will put my truck into gear and drive away. it will continue for a block or so. the squeak will come back when im driving if my sub kicks in. also every once in a while my battery wont charge for short periods of time. what i mean is the voltmeter or battery gauge idk what its called will sit at a very low voltage and my lights will stay dim. i beleive that my amp is taking to much energy anyways because my lights and everything else dim when my sub kicks in.... any ideas if my alt is causing the squeak and if anyone knows where i can get a more powerful alt for cheap! thanks!

check you altinator belt, It needs to be somewhat tight. I had the same problem with m old truck, though it was a diesel. But I know the same thing happened with my truck. I can almost gurantee its the belt.

Well my alternator was making a squealing high pitched noise. It had gotten louder over 2 months and then 2 days later the alternator just died. Swapped out a new alternator and no more squealing or high pitched noises!

no it was definitely not my belt it was in perfect shape and was not loose at all. It was my alternator that was making the high pitched squeeling noise. It sounds pretty much like a vacuum leak. So annoying and loud but I no 100% it was nothing else but the alternator. However you probably should tighten up your belt or just replace it first and check all of the hoses before you replace the alternator considering it's like a 280$ part. let us know if you fix the problem!
