I have a loud sound coming from the drivers side of the engine that changes as the engine speed does.
My truck is a 95 ranger with a 3.0L Vulcan with over 250K.
I have removed the intake, and the drivers side head, hoping to find some obvious problem but everything looks fine. The head gasket seemed fine from inspection and the valves are all sealed relatively well. I have visually inspected the lifters, but they all seems fine. Is there something specific I should do to test them out?
The sound I hear is identical to the sound in this video:
So since I seem to see no problems with the pistons, cylinder head, valves or pushrods, what are other options that could making that knocking sound?
Also, I had low compression all along the that side before I took it apart. I think it was 60, 30, 90psi front to back. Also when I took the spark plugs out, the front driver's side was all burned up, but the other too were in great shape.
I'm really lost on what the next steps I should take are. Thank you for any advice you may have!
