What gears do you have in your rear end, or do you know?

I'm kind of interested in the answers you guys give too, my truck has the 3.73:1 rear gears, with an open diff... i've already done the air box mod, throttle cable mod, and put on a cherry bomb turbo exhaust muffler and have the exhaust turning out in front of the rear tire, also i went from the 31" tires that were on it when i bought it down to 255/45/r17's but am about to go to stock 16" aluminum rims to reduce rolling resistance on the truck because the rims i have on it now are extremely heavy, with the proper air pressure in them...

the main mpg change you can do it driving style,,when accelerating i keep mine under 2800 rpms and coast to lights when they are red, the less accelerating the better. if your on the highway keep it under 70. i have a underdrive pulley on my truck which is realynice and added 1 mpg to it. the main thing is the acceleration and rpms. its a truck, not gunna be the greatest fuel afficent vehical but its always nice to get more than you have for sure. o and run with "vent mode" and not ac or max ac, that helps to

THanks danger, I already had some of that figured out, but I have the explorer ratc n I run it in auto mode with the ac compressor off most of the time. I had also installed dual electric fans on the truck to help free up some residual drag off the engine. But again thanks alot

well I get around 19 to 23 mpg highway and city. If you hopping it up I'm assuming your putting bigger rims and tires on it.... that's not gonna help your gas mileage out at all

i have 285 tires on my 3.0l right now (i bought it like that) and am thinking of putting smaller tires on soon before gas goes up too much more. any suggestions for a size that would increase gas mileage but still keep the pickup sitting a little higher than stock? they're stock rims as well. I'm thinking about 255 or so but just seeing what others say. the 285's are just too big for the little 3.0 w/ 4speed tranny. around town or on highway goin 60. thanks for any help.

i only have the underdrive crank pullley which is the main one, you really only need that one and also you will need to get a new belt for the truck cus the pullley is smaller which gets the better mpgs.
