Re: power steering fluid of choice?
I use SuperTech ATF fluid. Works just as well as Mercon V IMO, never caused me any problem in my power steering or transmission.

Re: power steering fluid of choice?
MERCON V ATF Only (as per TSB) - see: Linky
PLEASE do not follow that video - you will wind up with a whining POS of a power steering pump. Their way pumps air in the lines - bad juju. May be fine for them, not us.

Suck it out of resovoir, don't drain lines as that allows air into system, try to avoid air in system. I have a vacuum tool but a turkey baster with some fuel line on end (use 12", that way if falls off you can retreve it from resovoir) will do. I use power steering fluid and Lucas power steering additive.

Re: power steering fluid of choice?
Ford TSB should end this, but it won't.

Re: power steering fluid of choice?
Hey guys, jumpin in a little late, but I was in the middle of flushing my p.s. in what I now know was the improper way, via disconnecting ps cooler hose and cranking the wheel around (I had a friend pour in Mercon fluid right before I started it). Then flushed a few times with more fluid. Still squeaking. Where should I go from here? I have a vacuum tool, as well as a turkey baster ha
