Default Slight engine knock
My 98 Ranger 3.0 has a slight knock coming from what I think is the engine. I can hear it best from the under right side of the engine. The knock is not very loud but it does speed up when I accelerate. The knock comes and goes. Sometimes it is their when at idle and sometimes not. Same with acceleration and down shifting.

You should get that fixed ASAP. If you keep driving it, it will get worse, and eventually rip a new ******* in your block.

Piston Slap? Whatever it is, it definitely needs to get looked at quick. The last thing you want is a piston shooting out of your engine

Are you running synthetic oil or tried using a treatment to clean the engine up at all?

I know I need to repair it. I am just trying to figure out what needs to be fixed. I am thinking it might be a miss fire. Can a miss cause a knocking sound?
