I changed my coil pack out and it fixed the issue. But now 20k later I'm having the same problem. Could the coil pack of failed that quickly? I replaced it with a BWD pack from pepboys.
I have check for vacuum leaks and everything appears fine. I hacked off some of my tailpipe because I bent it on a trail. Not sure if that means anything. Just did radiator flush and has been maintained pretty well for the most part. Also just changed fuel filter.
I'm at 117k now.
Could the cam syncro failing cause these issues?

I don't if my experience helps but since no one else replied I will. You exact situation happened to me but it was on 2002 Sonata 2.4L 4 cyl. Sirius engine. I had a similar problem of misfire with a code as well ( I forget the exact code) Anways, It turned out that every time my coil pack for spark plugs 1 and 2 would get wet or be humid, it would malfunction so I changed it. Not even a year later and approx 20,000 KMs later the smae problem occurred except it was the coil pack to cyl 3-4. So i changed that and problem solved. Its been 4 months and its running great in even the worst conditions. Might or might not help, but it might guide you in some way
