2000 (130K miles) 3.0 w/ sticky clutch
I have a 2000 (130K miles) 3.0 with a sticky clutch. First started two months ago while driving from TX to VA-- completely locked up when I pulled into a rest stop, couldn't get it in any gear. After letting it sit a while and trying for several minutes I finally got it in reverse. No problems for the rest of the trip (350 miles). It then sat outside in the cold for 6 weeks. Now the clutch is sticky going into first every now and then, but I can always get it in gear. There's also a slight squeaking noise that happens occasionally as I let the clutch out (only at low gears). The squeaking has also happenend while stopped at a light (with clutch in) and once while starting up. Can't seem to predict when the squeaking will or will not occur. I have a friend who has a 98 that had similar problems with the clutch.
Is it time to replace the transmission/ clutch assembly? What about a transmission flush? How much will this run me, and how soon do I need to get it taken care of? (Would be nice if I could wait 1-2 weeks) Anyone know if this is a problem typical to Rangers? (My friend's clutch is still kinda weird) Thanks for your help!
