Default oil leak question

I have the 3.0 motor witgh 180k...
So today I did an oil change and of course you want more than about 1qt of oil to come out, but thats all that came out . The engine is still running, dont know how long it will last. My truck does not leave any kind of oil stain on the pavement, I have some oil on the front of the engine block but the oil pan looks good(well for 180K at least). I was wondering if there is any known spot on these engines to leak out of because I cant seem to pin point where exactly. My next day off im going to tank a real good look, I want to try and catch this thing before an engine does go.

also, if the engine does go, do the 4.0s bolt right up?

How long since you last checked the oil?

I've heard the oil filters may like to leak at the block flange, but I've never heard many complaints about it. You're gonna have to look all over the engine block to find wherever the oil is piling up. If you see nothing, someone stole your oil, or you've been driving a lemon.

I cant remember. I probably checked it two weeks ago and then before that I checked it some time after the oil change(maybe like 3 weeks after?) Both times it was tough to see what the level of oil was(which it normally isnt tough to see) but I used some different oil along with that lucas stuff so I though eh maybe its just a lot lighter, trying to sugar coat it I guess. I'm getting frustrated with this truck.

Ill be looking for the leak, I hope I dont have to tear down the engine. I might just sell it.

My 3.0 leaks around the oil filter a little bit for some reason. You arent supposed to screw the oil filter on really tight but its seems like i have too just so it wont leak,(and yes i am using the right size oil filter). See if its leaking around the filter.

If it's "tough to see the oil level", then it isn't there. It is either there or it isn't. Does it smoke a lot out the tailpipe or smell like burning oil?

No smoke. I read smoke was common with leaks though.

Well it's probably not burning it. And it doesn't seem like it's leaking out of the engine. Fill it up and see if it disappears again. It's possible it just wasn't filled up all the way last time it was changed.
