Was driving and noticed a sort of whining high pitched sort of like a high pitch whistle noise, sounds like its comming from the middle towards the left of the engine if your facing the front of the truck. It whistles while cruising or at idle, when i press gas it sort of goes away but then comes back when i let go of gas. Also when i turn of the engine, it whines for another 4 seconds and then sounds like somethings is cooling down kind of like if you pour cold water on a hot engine. and then the sound goes away. i read some other similiar threads that stated it could be a air leak in the air intake any suggestions or anyone have the same problem? its a 3.0 with 126k auto
im having a similar problem with the high pitched noise when the truck is idling. usually this happens when im braking at a stop light or sign and then the pitch suddenly stops and the rpms drop (sometimes this makes the car die too). were you able to figure out anything?

so i did my best cleaning the IAC and right away there was a constant whistle whenever my foot was off the gas, but after a few hours that went away and i havnt had any trouble for the past 3 days (knock on wood). Thanks for your help guys
