temp gauge always on cold never goes above a 1/4
My temp gauge never goes above a 1/4 and it only goes that high when i hot rod it. the heat works. i know the truck has a new radiator and thermostat. its a 1996 3.0L 5-speed. Anyone know what i can do to fix this and what causes it?

maybe a new temp sensor. On my dads 2.3 the gauge always showed about 1/4 or below, we installed an oil and water temp gauge on the pillar, the temp at 1/4 was actually 190* but according to the stocker the temp should only be say 100*....

no, I would try replacing the sensor on the motor.

if that doesnt help you might have to much water or a air pocket in the coolant system
