you might get lucky finding a local, low mileage 3.0 on eBay.. most salvage yards provide carfax reports on low mileage engines these days..

Well I bought the truck about a year ago and since then I've been making a lot more simolions since. Anyways right now I'm saving to drive home in march. Then after that I can save about 1200 a month. Plus I can sell the motor and tranny.

It's not like I have no mechanical experience or fab experience. It's fine if its down for a few months, I know this is no over night job.

The only thing I'm concerned about it how far in the firewall I have to go. Or it it will fit with out cutting and welding could be more no more than two inches.

Also another thing I have to look into is the suspension.

You know this negativity is just going to push me more to get it done. So bring it on.

Sure, keep thinking that. There is a guy on another forum with way more expendable income than most people, he's in the middle of dropping a 5.4 in his truck.. He's run into alot more snags, money pits and issues than you could possibly imagine.

I hope for your sake that you bring your A-game.

Started unhooking every thing, all that is left is the tranny, power steering and the a/c. Not to sure how to go about draining the freon.

Disregard the dirtyness, I was playing in the mud when she was hydro locked.

----------

I'm going to take your information edgeman, I'm going to go with the 302. They are much more easy to find and apparently easier to install.

Like I've said before the tranny is up for sale, also the motor if you want to put new rods in.

There's only 55k on everything. Also I will part out the items I don't need.

i believe swapping in a 5.4 you have to mod the frame, and when i say mod the frame i mean alot, meaning you better know your stuff, plus with your stock t bars you wanna put a stock ranger front diff in with a 5.4? not gonna work your gonna wanna change your rear diff to that of one off of an f150 or bigger, same goes for the front diff, your gonna want a solid front axle so there goes your tbars, your gonna need to fab up your own front end. as mentioned before i dont think you know how difficult it is going to be, custom drive shafts, you need a transfer case. sorry man but you dont know the half of it, i know the guy they are talkin about that is dropping one in and he has lots of $$$ and hes been like 6+ months on just this swap so another thing is be prepared and have a back up vehicle
