Gas tank...
There is no way I can have a 20gal tank.
I've filled it from empty and always get right around 15 gallons in.
If I do have a 20gal tank, I'm selling my truck...getting like 12mpg.
But if its a 16 gallon tank, I'm getting like 17mpg.
But all rangers have 20gallon tanks? Or no?

Re: Gas tank...
im not understanding how you are calculating your mileage. you dont go off how big your tank is, you go off how many gallons you use. you can have a 20 gallon tank or a 30 gallon tank but if you us 15 gallons and go X number of miles on that 15 gallons you still get the same mileage.

Re: Gas tank...
I always run my tank till my light comes on, and I fill from empty.
I do 275 miles / 20 gallon tank = 13.75 mpg
or 275 miles / 16 gallon tank = 17.18 mpg

Re: Gas tank...
No, if you are doing 275 miles and then filling it takes 15 gallons then you do 275/15 = 18.3 mpg

Ugh! I just REALLY don't think I do.

Re: Gas tank...
just because youve never put 20 gallons in your tank doesnt mean its not a 20 gallon tank (or 19.5) my truck has the 19.5 gallon tank and the most ive put in it even after running with the light on for a while was 17 gallons.

Seriously, try doing something smart and just looking it up instead of saying "I really think I have this no matter what the facts say".

Re: Gas tank...
Obviously, I have looked it up before, but have found various answers, hence why I asked on this forum. Seriously, no need to be an ass. So you've never had a question about your truck before?

Re: Gas tank...
Aaron it doesn't really matter your tank size when figuring mileage... next time you fill your tank reset the odometer and then when you fill the tank the next time take:
odometer reading / gas pump gallon reading = miles per gallon
A lot of your tank size could be in reserve that you haven't tapped into yet.

Yes, I've had questions about my truck but I don't ask it and then say that I don't believe what people are telling me. Why even bother asking? If you have found something that says otherwise post it up instead of just saying "Ugh! I just REALLY don't think I do."

x2
I played chicken (but ended up giving in) with my fuel gauge just today, and after driving 70 miles past when the light came on, with the needle way below E on the gauge, it still only took 18.5 gallons before it was full.
