Default Oxygen sensor inqury

Hi pals, my truck does not have the Oxygen sensor (O2 sensor) and I want to install it, but I have a couple of doubts...

1- How many O2 sensors does the V6 3.0L has? I mean if it has 1 per manifold or just one in total, as I check the engine bay and I only see one connector for the O2 sensor (located on the left side of the engine bay).

2- Can anybody send me the correct part number? As I check the Motorcraft on-line catalog and there are at least 5 different models for this truck and year

Its a 1996 Ford Ranger V6 3.0L, with manual transmission

Last, can someone post a picture of the O2 sensor installed?

And should I consider any other specific detail?

Hope to hear good news!!!!!

there are three, one on each manifold (upstream) and one near the converter(downstream) the upstreams are (bosch number)15717's the downstream one is a 15718 (bosch again) remember to get a good o2 sensor socket, and lots of pb blaster
(these numbers are for the automatic)

Thanks Jocker.
The question is, my truck doesnot have catalitic converter (they were imported from the US without O2 sensors and without catalitic converter)... so I asume that I shouldnt install the 3rd. one, right? Only the two from the manifold...

is this ok????

yup, if there is no 3rd hole for a sensor anywhere in your exhaust the dont worry about it, and the part number for your truck is 15718, grab two, a good socket, and pray for good luck, they have a tendancy to get stuck pretty bad on the drivers side manifold

If it doesn't have them now, why would you want them?

I would question if the computer is even equipped to use them.

Yes it is.

The computer is 100% the same. Whats more, all the wires are there, I just need to but and install the sensors... plug-n-play!

This doesn't make sense. If you take one of our USA trucks and disconnect all those sensors, it will freak out. It will run like crap, trigger the check engine light, and leave you with host of engine trouble codes because it will be all fucked up.

Just because the wires are there and the computer looks the same on the outside, doesn't mean it is designed to use them.

No, Ill explain better:

When these vehicles were imported from the US in the middle 90s, our gasolie quality was a real shit. Thats why the O2 sensors and catalytic converters were removed, because of the gasoline poor quality and no emission control until 1998-99
In 1998 the gasoline quality matched the american standard, 100% unleaded and 97-octane for premium and 95-octane for regular gas.

In my truck, theres a plug which emulates the O2 sensor, just like the passenger airbag (which I dont have), its nothing else but a resistor which emulates the O2 sensors are there...
offcourse, if I disconnect those, "check engine" lights up.

A friend of mine did this on his truck, and he once told me that the MPG or KPL really increases...

The computer is the same, the truck is the same. its made in the USA, 100% the same as you see in the streets of US, only this componentes where removed when imported

Well there is another problem. Regular fuel in these engines is 87 octane. Running 95-97 octane will ruin them. Putting in real oxygen sensors will not help.

Well it seems that what your trying to do makes sense and will probably help. However you have a host of other issues to deal with before it will be worth doing. Like I said, 95-97 octane fuel in these engines is very bad for them. The poor combustion will defeat the purpose of having O2 sensors in the first place.
