lol kinda but it cost $160.00 for the cam synchronizer and $40.00 for the cam sensor and $90.00 for labor. but your deal would be killer!! lol ill throw in a 6pk for yea screw the 2 beers lol

thanks man. I've been worrying about it lately. So once i heard it i said ok time to do it. Not going to wait for it to get worse. I don't want to put a new 5k motor just because i didn't do a $285.00 job.

is this noise only on cold cranks and quits after a few minutes? kinda sounds like its in one spot like a rotation and screech rotation and screech?

mine does it when warmed up also. and yes mine at the moment is screech then gone then screech then gone. But its getting worse. when i drove home from work i warmed it up for like 4 mins no noise then when i got home it was chirping bad. open the hood and from the same spot in the rear over the cam sensor.

hmm ok do you know if the 4cyl models have this sensor or is it just for a v6 set up for 2 cams?

i have a single cam (OHV) over head valve 3.0L. I know these and the 3.8L mustang motors have this problem. But i don't know about the 2.3 and the 2.5. Im more then sure that the 2.3 does not. And 2.5 is a mazda motor and i have no idea if it does. And the 2001 and up rangers 4.0L are (SOHC) single over head cams.

cuz i got a crazy noise like that upon start up but haven't been able to track it yet to one particular spot on the motor. however it does stop after about 5 min on a very cold crank up.

edit on my last post SOHC not dohc. I had the toyota 3.4 on my mind when i typed that haha ok well have you checked your belts? any of them cracked or old? but you say it goes away when you warm it up. i cant think of anything on the top of my head. what motor do you have?

and this is the problem im having. Exact same sound.

3.8L mustang

3.0L vulcan same motor i have in a Taurus

its only a problem on the 3.0

def no noise like that... i have the 2.5 4cyl with 8 sparkplugs lol i have new gator back belts on it my buddy told me i should replace my self tensioner pully and a idler pulley as well just to freshen them up even if it doesn't fix the actual problem of the noise.
