you should start a thread and see if anyone can help you with that. maybe another guy with a 2.5 had the same problem. I honesty don't have any idea what it is.

SHE'S ALIVE!!!!! lol well i got the truck back today and he said that bearing was done for. So lucky me it didn't freeze up on me. But it runs great now no more chirping in the back of the motor. Going back tomorrow to pay. he wasn't there when i came to pick it up so he had his other mechanic give me the keys so i could go to school. Its nice to have a mechanic trust you like that. Thats why i keep going back to him. Well lets see what it comes out to though in the cha ching part $$$

My 3.0 started chirping like that a few months ago. It was really loud. at first i thought it was just the belt but started to listen to it and its coming from the back of the motor so i think i have the same problem.. what needs to be replaced to stop the chirping?

the cam synchronizer. Its the most deadly thing on this motor everyone says. You should have it replaced if its doing that sound. If that bearing in the cam synchronizer goes out aka freeze's up you loose your oil pump which means you loose you motor.

The camshaft synchronizer. It's located in the passenger side rear of the block where the distributor WOULD go if you had one. EvilBay. 36 bucks WITH a cam sensor and the alignment tool.

If you have to replace it, just do it yourself. Mine didnt even take me ten minutes to do. Mine was 36$ at the dealer. I couldnt find them at any part stores around.

My bad. You were replacing the whole thing. I just did the sensor since the top of the shaft part was all in tact.

altogether mine was $297.00 new cam sensor with new cam synchronizer. And with $90.00 in labor. I say its worth it. Some may say other wise but i don't have time to put it in my self and plus if i screwed up then i would be paying for it. Better have him screw it up and pay for everything then me.

What about 4.0L OHVs? I have this chirp. Is there a sensor I have to replace or the whole synchro?

from what i just read on R.F from a thread over there yes you do have one. The 3.0 OHV and the 4.0 OHV and the mustang 3.8 OHV all have one. You should think about getting replaced then IMO.
