Another coolant leak, I am stumped.
Hi guys, I could use a little help, and this seems to be the place to get it.
A couple days ago after a family outing, I noticed coolant streaking down the top side of the skid plate on my 2000 4x4 Off Road Ranger. I traced it to the lower passenger side of the radiator near the white drain plug. Tightened and re-checked that, not coming from there.
It appears upon shining a light through the bumper where the tow hooks come out, to be coming from the passenger lower side. I have alot of questions, but I will keep it short.
Does this truck have a transmission cooler that sits in front of the radiator, or is that just part of the radiator itself? Also, it looks like it is just below where the line runs back to what I would imagine is the heater core.
I really don't believe at this time it is anything more than a radiator leak. All the hoses check out, drain plug is good, and it appears isolated to this area, just being blown around by the fan and road wind.
Thanks for reading, and any help or advice you can give.

Re: Another coolant leak, I am stumped.
trans cooler - yes, however it was an option to have another external mounted one
trans cooler - yes, there is one internal to the radiator
To get the best diagnosis on your leak, I would go to like harbour freight or northern tool or any place where you can buy a coolant system pressure checker.

Re: Another coolant leak, I am stumped.
Thanks, will do. Most of the tools and toys I have are 2 wheel specific, having driven an 84 Ranger prior to this, I was able to get by and use some old tricks.
I have a bit of O.C.D., so while it is a small leak, and one that I view as important, I just want to get it checked out.
If I should find that it is the trans cooler, how difficult are these to change? What is a ball park cost on a new one? I am no stranger to turning a wrench, just used to older cars and trucks, and making Vespas go way too fast. Yeah, that's right, the little scooters. I love being able to make something do 80 mph that's not supposed to.

Re: Another coolant leak, I am stumped.
I already removed the two bolts holding the fan shroud and pulled it back. Looking from the front of the truck, It is leaking at the bottom left. Seems to be coming from the very front left bottom. I will try and snap a few pics if I can get off work before its dark in the next day or so.
I hate stuff like this, drives me mad, just wanting to know exactly where it is coming from. I will just have to grab a pressurizer and find out for sure. It's all speculation on my part until then. Again, I appreciate the help!
