Default idle issue

Hey just wondering if anyone else has had the same problem..when I start my truck up in the morning and its cold it won't idle at all and dies. It never did it before I moved to where its quite a bit colder. One you get it going its fine...my truck does some weird stuff so just curious if anyone else has anything similar?

start your truck, then tap on the IAC with a small hammer or about a 10oz metal object, If the idle changes then you'll need a new one. I'd start there, PM if you need more info

Depends on how cold it is. When I lived in North Dakota my car would do this sometimes, but only on the coldest mornings when it was probably -30 degrees or colder out. For me, it would wear down my battery trying to start it and I was forced to get a jump. Is it doing the same thing to you? And how cold is it where you are at?

Yeah, if your diesel starts the Ranger should have no problems.

tapping on the IAC's not a bad idea....just curious as to if it does it when its warm out too?? cause if it does it when it sits out overnight both when cold and hot out could be an issue with the fuel(loosing its prime) possible fuel pressure regulator..I guess another question would be when was the last time the truck was tuned up?

The IAC, would not have been affected by the TUNE UP. During just about any and every seasonal change the carbon that builds up in hte IAC ov the summer wil get thicker and cause the IAC to stick. Tapping it would free up the small pintel that allows for fresh air to enter the intake.
