Re: Location of Blower motor resistor
Look under the hood on the passenger side firewall and you'll see the HVAC blower. Right next to it is a small plastic rectangle with a 4 wire connector. It is held in by 2 screws. That is the blower resistor.

I haven't worked on earlier Rangers but I think the blower resistor is near the blower under passenger side dash.
The HIGH blower speed circuit totally bypasses the resistor, so the wire (orange/black?) or a connector or the dash switch could be to blame. If you get that fixed and still have the problem with the other blower speeds, then it could be a faulty resistor.

Re: Location of Blower motor resistor
It could be the resistor wire harness as well. The design isn't that great at keeping moisture out. Mine was so corroded it wouldn't come off of the resistor. It turned out one of the plug terminals melted too.
In any case, it seems like all the Rangers have the resistor on the passenger side, below, and toward the engine on the fan housing.
If it is a connector issue, the dealerships and some other places sell replacement pig tails. Just make sure you do a good job splicing the wires and covering them with heat shrink before putting the wires back in the plastic wire loom (it will keep moisture out of the wires). I also RTV'd the crap out of the back of the connector so that hopefully it won't happen again. I also used die-electric grease on the terminal side (a lot of it) to try and keep the moisture out that way too.

Re: Location of Blower motor resistor
Not on my vehicle. Next to the heater motor is the A/C unit. Where is the Resistor?

Look near the blower motor at about 4 o'clock. It's there.

if you are looking at your blower motor from the front of the truck, it is on the heater case to the right under the wiring.

Re: Location of Blower motor resistor
Does anyone know the actual part number for the blower motor harness... I checked this:
http://www.amazon.com/Dorman-973-307-Blower-Resistor-Harness/dp/B003YLHAGE/ref=au_pf_pfg_s?ie=UTF8&Model=Ranger%7C696&n=15684181&s=automotive&Make=Ford%7C54&Year=2001%7C2001&vehicleType=automotive&newCar=1&carId=001
But is saying it's not compatible for an 01' ranger...
I've looked EVERYWHERE and people say get it from a JY... that's not an option for me so does anyone know of the actual part number or does the above look like it would work? From the picture it looks like it would...
