Well today, it idled up to 1K by itself. I looked at my feet, and sure enough, my right foot was halfway on the brake, and halfway on the gas. Moved my foot father onto the brake, and the idle came back down to normal. Easiest fix ever. I'm glad this was just driver error.

well i just pulled the #3 spark plug out and that gap is a tad bit smaller than it should be but thats not to big a deal. then i omed out the wire and it was good. i got the timeing gun out and it did have a little bit funny flash going on and then i did#1 and #4(cus thats on the same thing) and they flased fine. i drove it and right away it was all like ehhh and studdered but then i hit the pedal and it was fine after that. if the check engine light pops on again i might buy a new coil pack for it and hopefully that fixs it, if it comes on again

Hopefully that fixes it. Misfire codes always suck.

So was your truck officially fixed? My idle is at 600 and lopes occasionally weird. It also dislikes going into reverse and idling until I let it coast on its own. 2003 Ford Edge plus auto with 100k. Coil/plugs done.

I'm going to try and do some iac/maf cleaning this weekend and see if it helps. As well as a tranny fluid/filter swap.

Yes and No. The problem I was having back in October when I first posted this thread was indeed fixed with a new IAC. However, on Easter I took the truck through mud, and pissed it off again. Now whenever I put the truck in any gear after it warms up for awhile, it stutters and hesitates bad until it "catches". I haven't figured out this new problem yet.

Cleaning the IAC sometimes works, but usually when the symptoms are severe, the damage has already been done. Unfortunately, most of the electronic parts on these trucks don't seem to throw codes when they are bad, they only seem to throw codes when you unplug them.lol.

LOL. Well thanks for the update. My idle is barely off, so I will try cleaning it otherwise I'll try replacing the IAC.

Thanks again

Ok, so I am having the same issues with the idle that you are. I have a 2004 edge 3.0L manny. Approx. 88k miles. Normal idle RPM for me is 750. During the times of malfunction is right on start up: it sits at 500. It is on the verge of stalling, especially after I rev it up slightly and the RPMs come back down. It dips back down to 400 and settles at 500. This issue usually corrects itself within 5 minutes of driving, or turning the ignition off and restarting. Not this last time though. A couple days ago, I restarted it several times to no avail. It took about 15 minutes of driving and thEn another restart to correct it. No issues in the last two days.

Looks like a tune up is in my near future.

Side note: If anyone can guess (correctly) why I purposely capitalized the 'E' in thEn, I will seriously send you $5 cash...no strings.

Hmm, your problem is a little different than mine has ever been. Right now my truck runs beautiful when it is cold, but as it warms up, it gets worse. Like clockwork, after 10 minutes it develops a bit of a rough idle and the rpms drop to 700. After 15 minutes it starts to idle rough. After 20 minutes it starts to stumble and the rpms fluctuate between 400 and 800. Then after 25 minutes of running, it tries to die.

Because there is a difference between the words thAn and thEn, and you're sick of seeing them confused with each other.

THIS is the same problem I had with my '86 Ranger. EXACTLY. Does, your truck start back up after about 15-20 minutes of being dead.

Send me your address, I will send you $5.

Immediately after the stall?

The problem(s) I had were multiple issues. Some mechanics were trying to tell me it was an exhaust build-up/backup issue. When I had the thing hooked up to one of those diagnostic computers, it lit up like a 4th of July display next to a Christmas tree. Not just any old average Christmas tree, but the 60 ft-er at Disneyland with their July 4th fireworks show. It was easier to count the number of items NOT lit. The mechanic was even trying to tell me that the computer in my truck was one for a 3.0L V6 and not the 2.3L 4 banger I had.

Will this help, probably not. Will it add to your confusion about what it could be, probably. Sorry. But I can tell you that I drove the thing into the ground. When the motor finally froze up at 313,000 miles, I gave it a nice memorial service and sold it for $350 to a guy who turned it into a pre-runner.
