Default 5-speed when i shift into second it seems to catch

I have a 5-speed ranger and when i pull out of the drive way in the morning or just leaving a stop light when i shift from first to second gear i can feel the gear catching or something its not grinding and my clutch is descent its only second gear.. any suggestions? i figure the gears need greased or something but i'm pretty new to 5 speeds i know how to drive them just don't know what would be causing this any help i'd appreciate thanks.

Yeah mine does the same thing sometimes. I'm thinking it's the syncro gear but i'm not sure.

First thing you should do is change the fuild. Rangers come factory with ATF fluid. Even the Manuals believe it or not!

Sorry, ATF is a hydrolic fluid not gear oil.

I put synthetic 90w in my 97. In my 96 I put syncromesh fluid, it has graphite in it.

Both shift smoother. However the 90w feels "sticky" in the winter because it cold.
