I have seen a lot of others that use Motorcraft. I have 3 cars so i just use mobil 1 FS on them all. I get it at Walmart and Costocs for about $4 quart. I do use MC filter. I have run Dino in the 2.5 and when i put the full synthetic in it it is much quiter and smoother.......I swear it gives me a little sigh when i put in the full synthetic....

My 08' Ranger and my wife's 07' Ford Edge both take 5W-20, and typically, I go to Valvoline Instant Oil Change. I do visit a local chain called Lube Stop sometimes, and they recently upgraded from PennZoil to Mobil 1.

I use the Valvoline VR-1 Full Synthetic Racing oil Colored blue 20w-50 in my 2001 Ranger all year round. Engine hates the first start up during the winter, so have to plan an extra 5 minutes at the beginning of the day before heading to work. But once its warmed up it runs very well. It loves the summer time, but better yet, my father and i have proven on a 03 3.0L ranger itll make the engine last till it will fall apart. We got rid of his ranger in 2010 in june and hes had it since brand new off the lot in 2003 putting 393,000 miles on it till the number 6 cylinder basically became "compromised" then had to sell it. Wed probably still have it if the engine was still in good working order. Only problem is itll drink your gas in the cold weather if you start and go without proper warming before hitting the tarmac.
As far as oil changes, because of the thickness, and the super slickness of the oil, we do not change out the oil till we hit 15,000 miles, but only change the filter every 3,000 miles since thats all they are rated to be. But you can push another 1,000 miles if you really need to without any problems.
Other than the basics, this has been the best oil for hard working engines all year round, since it can deal with extreme engine heat under load and keeps the engine feeling good on the inside.

Depends on the winter location. If your close to the 10 degrees F or lower range consistently, it will be way to thick. But around 15 degrees F and higher itll be fine, might want to build in some time if its pretty cold outside to let the engine warm up, say 5-10 minutes of time so you dont stress the engine, or drink the gas trying to warm up.

Why switch oil viscosity for summer and winter, I use 5w30 in summer and winter. because the engine running temparature doesnt change with season. its always 200 degrees running temp summer or winter

It's not about the temperature of when the engines warm, it's about protection at the most critical point of friction; The Engine Start up, mainly the cold engine start up. My 20w-50 will literally seize the engine during the winter in a place like middle Canada or higher north, or in Alaska because of the extreme cold. So it is better to have much thinner oil in the winter so you don't have that happen. And yes... The weather effects your engine way more than a typical driver would care to take into consideration. As much as I would like for oil to all be the same, and same cheap price... They are not all alike. You MUST do your research and make some great mechanic friends. I did, and I take care of them for helping keep my vehicles in top working order to get 10+ years out of each of them.
And obviously if you change your car every 2-4 years it really would t be an issue of changing the type of oil in your vehicle.

I used Valvoline 5w30 high mileage full synthetic and 1 QT of Lucas oil stabilizer but couldn't find the high mileage valvoline synthetic at walmart the last time, so I got Mobil 1 High mileage Full synthetic 5w30, 1 QT Lucas oil stabilizer and a motorcraft filter. We will see how that works. I use the 5w30 year round and change it every 5,000 miles. I'm nervous about using anything thicker since the lucas oil stabilizer is pretty thick.

Ford recommends and uses synthetic blend in everything now. 5w20 in 2.3's and 3.0's and 5w30 in 4.0's.

The sticker on my 2000 3.0 says 5w30, they might have changed it to 5w20 in the 3.0 in a later year.
