02' Edge wont start... HELP!

working on my moms friends 02' Ranger Edge 3.0 with 101k miles on it. It was sitting for about a month on dead empty. he tried to start it but it wouldnt start. He thought it was out of gas so put some in. Cranks but wont start. I dont know alot about these trucks. I tried cranking it a few times but nothing, not even a backfire or anything. I pulled a plug and rested it on the block while cranking it to see if it was getting spark... but nothing. but I also dont think it is getting fuel. After cranking it for all that time, I didnt smell fuel and the spark plug was bone dry. What would cause it to not get spark or fuel?? please help

have you the coil pack? you check if fuel is reaching the injector by pushing the test port on the fuel rail

i have the same prob. but i have fuel... just no spark. i changed the coil but still nothing

was thinking of changing the coil pack until i realized that its not getting fuel either. thinking it might be the ECU?

I recently bought a 01 Edge that had been parked for almost a year. The owner said it would not start. Battery was way low so we jumped it from his truck. He could not get it to start. I got in it and tried. Pumped the hell out of the accelerator while spinning it over and she cranked right up. After sitting a while the gas evaporates and unless you pump it (which you normally don't touch the accelerator) it won't start. If you ever run out of gas you will have to pump it(while spinning it over) to get gas into the system. Worth a try.
