Default Cooling Issues HELP ASAP

I was out of town working and my 3.0 (1999) over heated

When I popped the hood I noticed the 1.5-2'' hose that connects to the thermostat good neck was vacuumed and squeezed together.

I figured it was the cap due to creating a vacuum and not realesing pressure.

So i drove home with the new cap 150 miles and was fine.

a few days (later 50 more miles) over heats, I put more coolant in it and i was fine.

Now today the temp needle rests on "C" and after a few minutes it starts to over heat?

Is this a bad water pump?

could be water pump but sounds like a bad thermostat. change the thermostat flush the system and get it all cleaned up and run a good mix 50/50 and try that it should help. but when u say the hose to the stat was like vaccumed togther kinda sounds like the stat isnt opening up to good
