3.5 stroker cheaper than the 3.3...?
Ok guys i have been stewing over the numbers for a while now and the math is solid. The 3.8 and the 3.9l motors had the same diameter rod journals and main journals the difference was the stroke. So i was wondering if anyone other than taurus owners have thought about a cheaper alternative than spending 2200 for a stroker kit. The 3.9 crank offset .185" w/ 4.6l pistons that measure .048" larger than the stock 3.50" pistons in the vulcans now. If you don't want to bore the motor you can use the stock pistons and it will yield a 3.3 the same as morana's kit, if you want to bore it just not .048" but would be willing to go about .020" over it would yield a 3.4l. Now i know that i'll catch hell for saying this but the 3.9 crank w/ 4.6l pistons and sbc connecting rods gives you a 3.534"x3.664" bore x stroke this combination would yield a 3.5l motor w/ a 1.56":1 rod ratio which could be better but would work on a street motor. So if anyone has any ideas which rods i could use that would yield a higher rod ratio please let me know because obviously i can't use the 3.0's nor the 3.9's and i really don't want to have to break down and put chevy parts on my ford because then i would be forever worried about them killing my motor... all help would be appreciated and by the way i am shooting for a 1.7-1.9 rod ratio for longevity
