how many mile do you have on the clutch? sometimes on a new install when burrs arent properly filed off it allows the clutch to catch on the shaft and doesnt immediately disengage as you push in the pedal. im no mechanic but thats one issue i have saw a couple of times

Sounds like the throttle body or the linkage is hanging some where.

might need a clutch or just a pressure plate cuz my 6 cyl mustang did that and it had the same clutch as the ranger
