Default flex fuel

what is the main differance between the 3.0 flex fuel and the non flex fuel 3.0 motors. i have found its a royal pain in the ass to get parts from the parts houses with this motor. and having to run fuel with at least 10 percent or ethenol in it.

Fuel with 10% ethenol is nothing. This is what most fuel in the country is now instead of using MTBE. This is considered normal fuel.

The flexfuel engine is designed to use normal fuel or 85% ethanol fuel. It is the fuel system that has different components to stand up to the ethanol. Normal fuel system components would get eaten away by the ethanol in E85. This is the same reason the normal E10 fuel screws up power equipment and boat motors.

These components are only necessary if you plan on using E85. If there is an equivalent part not rated for E85, it will work find.

i was just asking because my truck is supposed to use E85 fuel. it was originaly built for california. and on the gas door it says ethenal fuel or unleaded fuel only. and i didnt know ir running fuel with only 10 percent ethenal would mess the injectors up or not. I dont want to have to keep spending 70 bucks replacing injectors.

No it isn't supposed to run on on ethanol. That is completely false and I would love to know why you think that. The fuel system is designed to handle E85. You don't have to use it, it is optional. You can use normal unleaded gas and you should use normal unleaded gas. The 10% ethanol is normal unleaded gas.

Your truck is how old with how many miles? If you don't know where to buy E85 I would venture to say the truck has never ran on it... I think you'll be ok without it...

yeah you don't need to run E85 its just made to handle it and you have the option to run it if you'd like, not mandatory and 10% ethanol is what i see everywhere i go. i drove 18 hours from my house to michigan and everytime i went to the pump it was the same

The truck is a 99 my dad bought it brand new in 98, it has 56k on it when i got the truck it had 50k. he lived in Los Angelos Ca. so yes the truck has ran on E85. my dad passed away in may and he left me the truck. i drove the truck home to texas.... and im not worried about running it on E85. it runs fine on normal gas.

90 percent of the stations sell fuel with 10 percent ethenal and there are still some that dont have it posted if it has ethenal or not.

Typically, E85 is cheaper if you can find it BUT the drop in fuel mileage makes up for the difference in price since you have to hit the gas pedal harder to get the same performance. In the end, running with E85 will cost the same or more.

Running with standard gas wilth 10% ethanol will not hurt anything.

And your point is what? That is exactly what I've been telling you all along. You keep misinterpreting everything. The vehicle can run on either regular gasoline or E85 ethanol. The fuel that says 10% ethanol is regular gasoline.

Regular gas is the best bet. The E85 may be cheaper but fuel economy suffers and you end up spending more anyway.
