Default Help interpret inconsistent test results

See my earlier post re: dreaded misfire for background.

When I did a leak down test, air was definitely escaping through the tail pipe. Cylinder 5 had low compression (150psi) compared to the others. But now, with the head removed, the exhaust valve is not recessed and it doesn't even leak alcohol or light. What explains these inconsistent test results?!

Head gasket looked good too.
