yea when my sister bought her old honda it had one of those that was about 4 inches off the ground it was stupid

OMG. No. Leave your stock intake as it is. High performance air filter is like saying a hot sexy fat chick. It's BS.

that is because K&N is selling the product and want you to believe that and buy it (which ironically, you are doing). Too many people have added CAIs to Rangers, and there is no gain.

Its just like the "Tornado" thing for your intake to help improve gas mileage. its snake oil, doesn't work. But people buy it because it appeals to them because gas is sooooo high. Its kind of like taking a placebo (sugar pill). When people do clinical trials of medicine, certain people dont actually get the medicine, but get a placebo. In many cases, the people with the placebo got better because they "believed" that the medicine they were taking was helping them when in reality, it was all in their head. The makers of these products wants you to believe it will add 10hp so you WILL buy it. And most people dont go to a Dyno to see if it holds true. They just "think" they feel a difference, when in reality it does nothing.

This is not saying that CAIs dont work on all vehicles, but on a Ranger, they just dont increase anything but a bling factor

Intake systems don't work by themselves. It's best to make your own prolly. It'll be cheaper. That way your not stuck paying $200 $300 or more. But you need an exhaust, headers, etc. to make them wrok effectively. The more air going in the more needs to come out just as fast. If your really wanting to get power out of your ranger you need start with internals like cams, pistons, lifters, stroker kits, etc. then go to your fuel system and so on. That gets very expensive though. An intake should actually be the last step. Unless you have a Turbo or supercharger then i think an intake system is important because of the Forced air induction. I dunno if anybody has done Internal work on the 3.0 or if it's even possible.

This is my opinion

The same way this engine isn't 580hp Ford is full of shit, they are trying to get you to buy their engine over a competitor, by posting some random numbers to make it look better, right?

The one who's full of shit is the person who has no R&D department, no testing department, no reputation and money to lose in case he was proven to be a fraud, yet keeps yapping as if he had anything to base his assumptions on.

@op: Unless you plan to mod your truck more and drive/race it as a car during sunny days, i'd advise against spending 4-500$ for a CAI. A short ram sounds good, but doesn't add much hp wise, you can make one yourself and save the 200$. IMHO, of course.

That's an engine. From Ford. Not a stupid ass useless "performance air filter". You've reduced yourself to comparing apples to giraffes.

Yeah yeah, I know you're still in denial and can't stand it when I post facts that could save people money and effort on pointless mods that accomplish nothing. I assume this will never change since you try to attack me every time I say this. So hopefully the people asking the questions will believe me over your angry meaningless and unsupported rantings.

Actually it adds nothing at all.

To the OP and others wondering about these useless mods, please read this.

You're so full of yourself you completely missed the point.

Says the guy who still thinks a short ram is a cai. I'm not angry at you, you're not worth that much.

The internet, the only place where no argument is a valid argument.

#1 rule, if you can't make a valid argument, use bigger letters.

Like stated above unless you do something to the engine to allow it to be able to use the CAI for it's intended use, it won't benefit you much at all.

You are looking at porting and polishing the heads, matching the intake and exhaust gaskets, increasing piston size or stroke, and other things. Then you can get a CAI. You would probably also need an exhaust to match so that flow can continue unrestricted.
