Codes B1318, B1359, P0500
Got these three codes today. Truck will not start. Also, saw the dashboard lights fade in and out about three or four times. Never saw that before. Any ideas?

He, uh, posted in the 3.0 section... and lists a 3.0 in his profile.
OP, sorry, I don’t have any tips.

I was able to jump start my truck today and take it to a mechanic. Will post the results when I get them. Thanks all.

Where there any other symptoms before failing?
From the codes you gave it seems like there may be a defective battery or a problem in the charging system.

Mechanic says #1 cylinder valve is leaking/bad. A $2400 repair job. Removing both heads, etc. The truck is older than my son, so I am hesitant to spend $$. Any thoughts?

Re: Codes B1318, B1359, P0500
If it’s a leaking #1, consider a replacement used engine. Should come in significantly cheaper than the repair price. And at that price you’re totally justified in seeking a second opinion. If you do get a second and it supports the first, definitely consider a used engine.
To other members, are 3.0 engines generally interchangeable up to 2009, as long as they are the same fuel system (return or returnless)?

The truck is in my garage now. Beginning the repair job ourselves. BTW the battery was faulty, thus I doubt some of the codes now.

Re: Codes B1318, B1359, P0500
Final results! Bad battery was causing all these codes. Also discovered that when I replaced the battery I was still having codes. YET, on further inspection, the connector to the terminal was corroded so the power was intermittent.
Me and my son (age 17) decided to replace the head gaskets and anything we broke during the process. A painful yet gratifying experience.
