Hello everyone,

I was driving my 99 ranger across Washington state today and my oil pressure guage started to drop to zero and my engine began to billow with smoke. I opened the hood and my block was burning oil that was sprayed onto it but Idk from where. I think somewhere up high because I had spray up higher and on the underside of the hood. I stopped it right away and my engine didn't over heat and i towed it immediately. any ideas on what went wrong, i have to take it to a shop bc I live in an apartement but I'd like to have an idea before I take it in.

I have the above ranger. the engine is outta an 03 ranger. I have a bed cover and tool box. no tinted windows (I personally dislike them), after market tinted lights all around and off road lights to be installed. 16 rims and like 29.5 tires.

Check the PCV valve and hose. Had one go years ago on a 5.0, similar situation. Have you had the lower intake off for any reason? The seal from the intake to the block can be a weak point too. Hope you get it sorted.
