Default Very high intake temps

About two weeks ago after swapping out my spark plugs, I was driving around watching the live readings on my scan tool. I noticed that at idle the air intake temp readings skyrocket quickly. Coolant temp is staying within the 185-192 degree range. Recently at a McDonald's I noticed that the intake temp was reading 160 degrees with the ambient temp being around 95 degrees. This never happened before, the highest intake temp I recalled ever seeing before was around 115.

Has anyone else run into an issue like this before? It feels kind of like a ticking time bomb problem.

Unplug the scan tool and quit worrying.

Fixed it, and in case anyone else has the same issue in the future, I found an easy/cheap solution. Turned out that my exhaust system was pretty clogged up. When I heard a whistling sound while accelerating my truck, the issue was made clear.

A new catalytic converter it's probably worth more than the value of the truck. To unclog it, I unscrewed the bank 1 oxygen sensor and used a long thin hose to siphon about a third of a bottle of seafoam into the hole and there by into the catalytic converter. I then reinstalled the oxygen sensor and left the seafoam to soak for 30 minutes. After startup, and once the truck warmed up there was a smoke show the likes of which I had never seen seafoam produce before. It took about 30 minutes of running the truck before the tailpipe stopped emitting smoke.

Now the truck is running like a champ again, way better throttle response and my intake temps are down to reasonable levels again.
