air silencer removal and torsion bar lift questions

So i just signed up on the forum, first post! Got some questions for you expert rangerattics out there. Im pretty noob when it comes down to cars and trucks so bare with me

I have a 2001 Ford Ranger Edge 3.0 V6.

I was browsing the forum and saw the HOW TO: air silencer removal thread. What does this do exactly? does it just make your truck sound meaner or what?

Also I just found out about the torsion bar lift shit. What is the average height you can raise the front end up? I want to level my truck out, which means bringing my front end up 2". Has anybody had or heard of any problems by doing this? I like to take my truck out offroading a lot and i dont want to take any big chances on snapping something or breaking anything.

Help please!

To be honest the noise gain and performance gain is going to be very minimal. If you think about it the hole isnt really big enough to suck enough air in to make alot of noticeable HP increase.

If you want the sound you should get a CAI. My K&N sucks so much damn air in when I mash it. Its impressive.

There is also was a chance to snap or break something while offroading.
If you crank the torsion bars or not.

I just took off the silencer and my truck definatly sounds meaner now when i get on it. i love it! haha
