I need advice on replacing the rear main oil seal on a 1997 Ranger with a 3.0 engine. I have looked on my main source, Youtube, but found nothing helpful.

It's really the same process as any conventional rear main crankshaft seal replacement.

Look up some 5.0 Mustang rear main crank seal replacement videos and they'll give you a good idea what to do. It's super easy.

Just be sure the seal driver you use is the correct size. Make sure it matches the outside diameter of the seal exactly. If you use a seal driver that's too small you can ruin the seal easily. Also, lube the inside of the seal lips and the crankshaft snout so you don't tear or scuff the new seal. I like to pack the inside of the new seal with grease myself.
