Default Rebuilt warrenty

Would a 12 month warrrnty on a rebuilt engine cover the block. It is the original block and they rebuilt engine with new heads. There is coolant in cylinder 3. If it turns out the block is cracked would that be covered in most rebuilds?

That might depend on their process. If they didnt magna-flux the block and go through it and they (like most shops due) slapped new head gaskets on it and got you for a set of new heads.. than sadly not likely because they just rebuilt your engine with some new parts.

However, if they went through the entire block with a fine tooth comb because there a real good and reputable shop not just parts-swappers.. then they may want to stand up behind their work/name - reputation

But here is why my opinion is what it is outside of being around the block a few times.

Remanufactured - means they will use original block/crank/rods and sometimes pistons. They will replace all the seals/rings/gaskets in the block, then the heads upwards through to the I/M. Essentially they replace all the working or moving components and gaskets/seals

Rebuild - They generally replace just the broken components and the minimal amount of extra parts/gaskets/ and seals.

remanufactured is far better than rebuilt...
