Default Flasher help

I've got a 2004 ranger Edge 6.0. Today my flasher randomly started ticking on its own. Even with the ignition off. I replaced the flasher under the dash and it still does it. It only stops if the flasher is unplugged. Nothing has been modified. Any suggestions?

Are you speaking of the Silver flash pack for the Hazard switch?

No there is a black flasher underneath the dash on the drivers side. It controls both the turn signals and hazards.

Default Re: Flasher help

I know this is an old thread, but I noticed it while browsing and have dealt with this issue on my 2004 too. The problem is the turn/hazard switch. The flasher is triggered by a bulb load being connected to the output, but this should not happen when the switches are off. The flasher does not connect to anything but power, ground and the switch, so it has to be the switch.

I measured a fairly low resistance on the hazard output wire from the flasher with the flasher unplugged and the switches off. It would trigger the factory flasher at random times even when the truck was off. I tried an EP27 replacement from AZ but it was triggered all the time. I replaced the turn signal switch with one from a 2005 in the JY and it has been fine. There was probably corrosion in the switch but I have not taken it apart to look yet.
