Default Accessory belt / water pump problem

My '06 Ranger Sport (3.0 L) has always been bad for going through accessory belts. I tried everything (so I thought), but I would always end up just getting a new belt. Four to six months seemed to be about the average time before the chirping would start up again. This time (don't know why I didn't do this earlier) I put a long straight edge against the pulleys to check for alignment. I was surprised to discover that the water pump pulley stands out about 1/8" further than all the others. There is no way to reposition the pulley or the water pump... and this pump was replaced a few years ago (I had the same belt problems with the old pump, before you ask). My question is: are there different pumps out there with different measurements from gasket face to pulley mount?

I had chirping that drove me nuts AFTER I changed the belt. I tried everything, then finally changed the tensioner, which completely solved it. I did try aligning the pulley on the power steering first, there is a toolset that you can buy/rent at AutoZone.

You need to get your self a Continental Elite belt/ gator back belt, these are an amazing belt with tiny ridges instead of a v channel , iv had bad luck with these types and always squealing. Got me an Continental Elite belt now and will never switch to something else. 07 3.0 ranger

Thanks for the advice. Just picked up a Continental Elite Pro V... the clock has started.
